BAROMETER June 2024

Perceptions and expectations of French employees regarding their organization’s CSR approach

A Beeshake & Act For Now Barometer

orchestrated by the Cospirit Groupe Studies department

Why this barometer?

In any transformation, and especially when it comes to CSR, it is essential to involve all stakeholders, starting with employees. This is the shared conviction of Beeshake and Act For Now. However, most studies and barometers focus on the actions implemented by companies. But few focus on the perceptions, expectations and needs of employees.

Methodology

Orchestrated by the Cospirit Groupe Studies department, this barometer was carried out with more than 1000 French employees working in public and private organizations with more than 250 employees.

What you will discover

Do French employees understand CSR and its issues? Do they understand their organization’s strategy and roadmap? Do they feel properly aware and sufficiently informed? To what extent do they expect to participate? Get ready, we'll give you all the answers! (the last one will surprise you 😉)

With insights from several experts

On the issue of communication, companies have so far mainly communicated their CSR strategy externally, at the risk of neglecting the internal. The consequence is that employees do not always have direct access to the actions that are implemented, and they do not feel involved. My conviction is therefore that we must implement a CSR policy from within.

Employees confirm what we see internally: a desire among teams to always know more about CSR but also and above all to take action.
We believe that when it comes to CSR, it is essential to take action before communicating, and then set up a regular communication frequency (several times a year) with all teams, to inform, mobilize and co-construct CSR action with all the company's stakeholders, and try to collectively do a little better every day.

It is important to clarify what is meant by action and to provide visibility on what comes next: questions often come up from employees to know what the next steps are, the next actions on the subject.

We see it at all stages of the candidate and then employee journey. In particular, there is a real training issue: the more employees are informed, the more we will be able to connect CSR to the company's challenges, and the more we will concretely and collectively engage in the transformation. The subject of knowledge transfer is therefore critical to tackle the subject from the right angle and achieve a collective transformation.
