Speed co-development : Definition & main principles

The "speed co-development" also called "fast codev" or "brainstorm codev" is a learning method intended to improve the professional practices of its participants. Its mission, based oncollective intelligence brings many advantages. It consists in helping each person to solve problems, clarify their projects, question themselves deeply and find ideas to face their challenges thanks to collective workshops.

This method, which offers workshops of 1.5 to 2 hours, is a shortened version of co-development, which brings together participants for workshops of 3 to 4 hours.

Who can participate in the workshops?

All employees can participate in the "speed co-development" workshops. Everyone has their own experience and their own ideas. The employees can then bring their stone to the building with a new and external glance.

A "speed co-development" workshop usually consists of 5 to 8 people. They can be employees working together on a daily basis or from completely different backgrounds.

The participants place thecollective intelligence at the heart of their reflections. Together, they bring out good practices and solutions around given problems.

How does the "speed co-development" work?

These "speed co-development" workshops are part of a structured process that is repeated over time. Employees participate in group workshops. These workshops last from 1h30 to 2h, once or twice a month.

They are facilitated by a coach/facilitator from outside the group. He or she guides the sessions by having the participants play two roles: a client and consultants.

  • Step 1: The group designates a member to be the client. The client submits a topic with a problem to be solved and presents it to the group members. The group members then become the consultants.
  • Step 2: The consultants clarify the context and co-construct solutions to offer the client their best advice to address the issue.
  • Step 3: The client selects the most relevant ideas and solutions that they wish to implement.
  • Step 4: All group members share and debrief on what the workshop has brought to each of them.

"Speed co-development and participative innovation platform: the winning combo

Speed co-development workshops bring many advantages in problem solving thanks to a collective strength.

However, it is clear that these workshops are of limited duration and benefit only the participants present at these sessions.

But how can we make these workshops live on in the long term? How can we get more employees to participate? A participatory innovation platform brings here all its meaning and magic.

It allows to digitalize the "speed co-development" workshops giving the possibility to all the employees to propose ideas, solutions and projects around the issue.

What does this mean in concrete terms?

  • Step 1: The coach/facilitator creates a workshop closed to a few participants for a limited time.
  • Step 2: The consultants exchange and propose solutions to the designated client directly on the platform.
  • Step 3: The client selects the best solutions among those proposed by the consultants.
  • Step 4: The workshop is open to all other collaborators with the solutions selected by the client, giving them the opportunity to enrich these solutions to best respond to the problem posed.
  • Step 5: The client then selects a wider range of solutions to address their problem.

The participative innovation platform allows all employees to follow the progress of projects, from the problems to the proposed solutions, right up to the implementation of concrete actions. The digitalization of the "speed co-development" makes it possible to make the workshops live in the long term, toenrich the skills and toinvolve each employee
